PLD, which was founded by ex-Manchester United and Chelsea star Patrick Vieira, has said it has received no official response to a new bid for the former United striker and has been unable to speak to the man who is believed to be one of the four top clubs interested in the 23-year-old.PLD is believed by many to be the biggest name in the Premier League, having been touted as a potential destination for the Portuguese superstar, who is currently away at Brazil for a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay.
But with reports emerging of the new offer, it is understood that the club has turned down the offer from Manchester United, who are also thought to be keen on signing Vieira.
The move to the Premier Leagues is believed at this stage to be part of a wider deal that would see the club sell some or all of its stake in the club to make room for the new owners.
A source close to the matter told ESPN FC that PLD has now turned down Manchester United’s bid for Vieira and that the Portuguese forward is not on the shortlist for the post.
It has been a busy transfer window for the club, as it has sold players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Angel Di Maria and Marcos Rojo, as well as a host of others.
While many of those transfers have been in the first team, some of the signings that have been made have been for less than the price that was initially paid.
Despite this, the club’s fortunes have remained relatively stable in the last four years, having reached the Champions League quarter-finals in 2016 and reaching the semi-finals last season.
However, the current situation has led to speculation that the team could be on the verge of a sale, with the club being in negotiations with several potential buyers.
It is believed that Manchester United are keen to secure the services of the 23 year-old, but are unable to do so due to the financial situation of PLD.
With the transfer window expected to close in the next 24 hours, speculation continues to swirl around the club.
