Domingos Santana and his agent, Chris Arnold, announced Tuesday that Santana will sign a new four-year contract with the Boston Red Sox.
The contract will run through 2020 and includes a club option for 2021, the Sox said in a statement.
Santana has appeared in eight games this season, but he has made just eight starts, going 0-for-4 with a walk.
He had a two-game hitting streak snapped in the ninth inning against the New York Yankees on April 9.
The 32-year-old Santana has spent his entire career with the Detroit Tigers, hitting .270 with 26 homers and 123 RBIs in 434 games.
He has been with the Tigers since 2010.
